At Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF), we’re proud to celebrate a very special member of our community as our May Volunteer of the Month: LaShea Robinson of Jonesboro!

LaShea’s journey with ASPSF began years ago, not as a volunteer, but as a scholarship recipient. As a single parent pursuing her education, LaShea leaned on ASPSF for support — and now, she’s paying it forward in a big way.

Originally introduced to ASPSF by her junior high mentor, Linda Blackwood Ford, LaShea still remembers the joy of receiving her first scholarship.

“I always enjoyed the ceremony. It made me feel so special,” she said.

That feeling stuck with her — so much so that when the time came to give back, she didn’t hesitate.

“Volunteering allows me to give back to the organization that poured into me,” she shared.

LaShea has been a dedicated volunteer with ASPSF for two years, lending her time and talent to interviewing new applicants and helping with scholarship ceremonies. She also regularly brings her son, Cross, to volunteer at events, setting an inspiring example of generosity and community involvement.

LaShae and her son, Cross, volunteered at the Fall 2024 scholarship ceremony in Jonesboro by welcoming recipients and their families.

“LaShea understands our program and the mindsets of our students on a deeper level than others might,” ASPSF Program Manager Carrie Allen said. “She’s been where our students are now and can easily relate to them. I feel fortunate to have LaShea on our team.”

LaShae recognizes that she is a role model for current ASPSF recipients.

“I give my time back to encourage them and let them know that they can be a single parent and complete college as well, just like I did,” she said.

LaShea, thank you for being a shining example of resilience, generosity, and full-circle service. You remind us all why this work matters — and how powerful it is when recipients become champions for the next generation.

Congratulations, LaShea — we’re grateful for you!
